-
Statuette of Crouching Venus, dated to the 1st century BC. Place of discovery: impluvium of the atrium of the House of the Triclinium, V 2, 4, Pompeii. The statuette represents a well-known and widespread iconography: Venus emerging from the water, kneeling on her right leg, which rests on a small column, wringing out her hair. Her hairstyle is parted in the middle, with lateral strands divided like small serpents, culminating in two long braids.
